....Well, its about time isn't it? So far I've flown my merry little way around this crazy country and not acted that much like the scruffy backpacker i am at the mo, so I think a trip on the infamous Aussie Greyhound buses is well overdue! Having said my goodbyes to Ben and Jem I set off for Airlie Beach, where I was meeting Huggs and Walshy, a nice 11 hour bus journey was ahead of me.. it passed quick enough and i arrived in Airlie Beach early evening.
Now, before i go on, i have to just mention that for the past few months Huggs has been drumming it into to me at every possible opportunity that i'm not to be late getting to Airlie as we're on a tight schedule and it will all be thrown out of sync if I'm late (anyone would think that timekeeping wasn't my forte!! ;0) I have naturally been assuring them for months that I will obviously be on time...!
Now, given their insistence on this and their huge lack of faith in me, it would've been rude of me not to play a little trick on them! So, when Walshy called me a few hours before i was due to meet them, I told him that there'd been a problem with my bus and it was delayed, i was having to wait til the evening and wouldn't be getting there until sometime the next morning, by which time it may be too late to do the planned sailing trip... they handled it well and didn't get annoyed or anything but as I thought (and as confirmed later) they spent the next few hours cursing me and my inability to be on time... so, you can imagine the immense pleasure i had making them eat their words and apologise profusely when they walked into our dorm to find me relaxing on my bed and discovered i had infact been a whole day early... yes, it's true, for all you sceptics out there - although I've no doubt that both boys will deny it outright!! - still, it amused me a lot.. small things eh!?! But me being early is quite an achievement so i thought it worthy of a blog entry!! xxx
