After a lovely proper sleep, I woke feeling refreshed on my last day in Oz, to hear the sound of the ocean outside and see that the sun was shining and the day was warm and beautiful. Perfect for the day ahead of us... Dec was spoiling us and once again proving that Australian hospitality really dpes go above and beyond; he'd planned a day's sailing for us... on his Dad's yacht!!!!!! How spoilt was I being!!?!
We leisurely got up and ready, had breakfast on the balcony overlooking the beach and watched Dec surf for a bit before heading down to the marina for our day living the life of luxury. The view shown in the picture above was what greeted me on Dec's balcony... need i say more!?!
The yacht; The Lyric, was moored just offshore so to reach it there was a bit of comical row boat action... Dec and Luke headed over with all the supplies then Luke came back for me... his efforts to get us back to the boat amused me a lot but in fairness we did make it on board, safe and dry, got everything set up and pulled up the anchor. Once he'd navigated around all the other boats in the marina, Dec let me take over the driving and i found myself steering the lovely Lyric out into the open waters.
Our day trip a few weeks back with Lotte and Trish had seen us at Palm Beach and Kurin-gai Chase National Park on land, this time we'd be sailing by and seeing the same sights from the sea... awesome!
We made our way out of the bay and soaked up the sun - the bikini and flips were back in action and i was loving the day already. Eventually we came to a little bay, not far
from Lion Island were we dropped the anchor and got lunch on the go. Or rather Dec did - he'd even brought along veggie burgers for this fussy little veggie here! - we popped the cork on some wine and settled down on deck to soak up the sun, eat, drink, talk and laugh... i even tried my hand at fishing.. although we only had bread for bait so it didn't prove too successful but it was all good fun. The boys then went off to do boy things like jumping off rocks and spear fishing... i opted for being camera woman for their antics and lazing on deck as any self respecting lady of leisure on board a yacht would do!! It was bliss!
Once we'd exhausted ourselves we got back under way and slowly made our way back to the marina. The scenery all around was stunning, with 2 national parks flanking both sides of the boat, the Buddi on one side and Kuring-gai Chase on the other. Luke had a go at driving this time and well... sorry Luke but I'm going to say it... yes, that's right the woman amoung us, yes that's me!, was clearly a better driver!! haha - we ran aground, with Dec and I at the front of the boat, enjoying a little gossip and taking in the perfectness of it all, we nearly went overboard and I whacked my shoulder on the sail (well, would my last day with Luke really be complete without him causing me injury??!!) and for a moment there Luke was preparing himself to jump out and push us out of the sand bank beneath us. Luckily we were able to reverse out if it and we carried on our way. We docked just after dusk, having watched the sun set gorgeously from the yacht. I know this all sounds very romantisied and too good to be true but I really can't begin to tell you how lovely it all was and to be there with my lovely friends Luke and Dec.. I couldn't have wished for a better last day in Australia!
Once we'd made it back to dry land we headed to the pub for a few beers and some pool before having a gorgeous chinese meal (which i think I still owe you both for boys!) then back to base to get packed up. My flight being at 0820 the next morning meant that i had to be up and off at stupid o'clock in the morning. There were good intentions of several hours sleep before having to leave but somehow that didn't quite happen! After packing and getting myself sorted, we lazed on the bed in the front room, looking at the clear sky and stars and listening to the ocean. It really was idyllic.

All too soon 3am rolled around and I dragged myself from the bed and got myself sorted while Dec made us tea for the journey. Dec, bless him, was all set to drive me to the airport - had it not been for an unfortunate car crash incident a couple of days previously (no damage done to him though thankfully!) I'm sure that he would've done. As it was his little car would never have made it that far so he was taking me back to the station instead. To be fair for both boys to get out of their beds at 4am just to take me to the station was an achievement, and a very touching act, in itself. Thanks boys! I'll admit that I was very scared about branching out on my own again and the thought of leaving the country alone was making for quite an emotional time so I was very grateful to have them both with me for as long as possible.

We made it to Woi Woi in time for the train, just, and before I knew it I'd hugged them both goodbye and was on the train, on my way and on my own again! An exciting, if scary predicament.... and i don't mind admitting there might've been a little tear shed too! All that remains to be said is, boys... thank you for making my last day in Oz so fun, it was a shame that Brad couldn't join us too but it was the perfect way to spend it with the both of you. x
