Fun in Paradise... Surfers Paradise!!

Well, as predicted, I was finding it strange being on my own again, but it only lasted a few hours to be fair. Surfers Paradise is only a couple of hours from Brisbane and Jem was meeting me off the bus. Her and Ben (of Chaing Mai, Perth, Ayers Rock and Cairns/Cape Trib appearance) had set up in Surfers for a while so had kindly said they’d put me up for a few days. Having not seen them since I left Cairns the first time it was lovely to catch up with them again. We stayed in and chilled out that night and the following day Ben and I dropped Jem at work and headed to the infamous beach. It is a beautiful beach, it is also however, a shame that its lined with high rise hotels and the like. Surfers Paradise does have a gorgeous ocean/beach setting but it’s become a bit of a classic ‘seaside resort’ over the years. I guess it’s inevitable that some places will become over developed like this, just seems a shame too though. Blimey, I sound like I’m back at Uni studying eco-friendly tourism!!!

After a few hours soaking up the sun, Ben dropped me back at theirs and headed to work. I spent the afternoon chilling out then in the evening some other friends of Ben and Jems arrived and we all headed out to sample Surfer’s nightlife. Was a comical night and involved a very amusing ‘strip’ show for the ladies… unfortunately girls, I managed to wipe all the photo’s I took that night off my camera – Jem, if you have any email them over! – so I can’t amuse you with the antic’s of that evening! Thankfully that’s the only time I’ve been that daft and I only lost one day and one night’s pic’s – I’ve learnt my lesson, I can’t tell you how annoyed I was at myself!!

The next day was spent by the pool at Ben and Jem’s apartment complex, tough life eh! The weather was gorgeous over the few days I was there and it was lovely just relaxing with Jem, passing several hours planning how to make our millions!!! The evening we went for a lovely chinese and then home early… a tad hung-over from the night before, we were feeling lame!!

Jem and I spent the next day shopping, a lovely girlie day, it was great! I was leaving the following day so it was nice to spend some time with Jem before I headed off. I spent a few hours by the pool again before having to leave and really be on my own this time… I have to admit, I was feeling a little daunted again!
